Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy Instructions

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy- Pre procedure Patient instructions

At 4pm, the day prior to your shock wave lithotripsy, please take 2 – 3 Dulcolax pills. They may be purchased over the counter at your local pharmacy.

After taking the Dulcolax pills you may have only clear liquids for the remainder of the day until midnight. Clear fluids include clear soups, Jello, fruit juice, coffee or tea. Be sure to drink enough fluids over the course of the evening, to prevent dehydration.

DO NOT EAT OR DRINK, ANYTHING AFTER MIDNIGHT, THE NIGHT PRIOR TO YOUR PROCEDURE.

Please make an appointment 1 week after procedure. Be sure to have KUB taken prior to coming to our office. The RX was enclosed with the original surgical instructions.
